Gloria Stultz, Chair
February, 2009
It is with great enthusiasm that I greet you as your 2009-2011 Democratic Party Chair for Fremont County. It is an exciting time to be a Democrat and an American. We all are anxious about our economic future and send our leaders our hopes and prayers for a recovery that is responsible and successful.
My recent campaign for Fremont County Commissioner set the stage for my continued interest in our political system. I appreciate the support I received from across the political arena. We are immersed in a time of excitement and involvement in our communities across the country. Our community is no different. We had very successful turnouts at our caucuses last year that saw folks that had never attended a caucus before. Given the newly invigorated millions of young and formerly disenfranchised voters who have demonstrated an interest in politics this last election cycle, we know that the nation has a unique opportunity to diversify its political representation as never before.
What do we do with that energy? How can we turn that energy into being responsible to our own community? There is a lot to be done. It’s time to move on to a continuing involvement, at a grass roots level, right here in Fremont County. There are so many causes and needs that could use our help. Democrats as well as Republicans and Independents care about our community and want to know how to help. As for the Democrats, we are looking at causes that we feel passionate about. Cleaning up the environment around us and being responsible citizens to our neighborhoods are obvious ways to help.
Volunteering is the cornerstone of helping at the grass roots level. Democrats are delivering meals on wheels, we are involved in assisting senior citizens, and we are active in religious groups, to name a few. We represent a variety of age groups. We are interested in you. What are your passions? Email us at fcdpco@gmail.com, call us at 719-276-9150, and get involved. Our office at 628 Main St. is open Tuesdays thru Thursday 10 AM to 2 PM throughout the winter. Whatever your talents are, we need you. Stop by to help out or have a chat.
